The Basics of Life
Across Gambia, Senegal, Cameroon, and Guinea-Bissau, millions of people struggle without the basics of life.
- Water: Over 50% of Gambia’s people lack safe drinking water. In Senegal, nearly one-third live without reliable access. Guinea-Bissau faces severe shortages, fueling waterborne disease.
- Food: Rising prices and conflict leave families without enough to eat. In Cameroon, shortages are worsened by instability.
- Child Health: Malnutrition is devastating. In Cameroon, more than 204,000 children suffer from wasting. In Gambia and Senegal, stunting and undernutrition remain widespread.
Human Concern USA is answering these urgent needs with the Africa Support Program. Recently in Sanuga, a remote Cameroonian village, our team found children weakened by malnutrition and families with no clean water. Our intervention
is clear:
- Clean Water Access – building wells and filtration systems
- Nutritional Support – distributing food and teaching nutrition
- Health Services – supplying hospitals and running medical clinics
